Privacy Policy

This policy explains what LottoChecker.co.za does with information about the people who visit it. It is deliberately short, because the site does very little with your data.

Your ticket numbers never leave your device

The ticket checker runs entirely inside your browser. When you type in your numbers, they are compared against the drawn numbers already printed on the page. Nothing is sent to our server, nothing is transmitted anywhere, and nothing is stored. Close the tab and they are gone.

This is a deliberate design choice rather than a policy promise: there is no code on the site that could collect those numbers even if we wanted it to.

What the site does not do

What we do collect

Basic analytics. We use a self-hosted analytics plugin that records things like which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and which site referred them. It runs on our own server rather than sending your browsing to a third-party advertising network, and we use it only to understand which results and pages people find useful.

Security and server logs. Like any website, our server and our security plugin record request information including IP addresses, so that attacks and abuse can be blocked. These records exist for security and are not used to build a profile of you.

Our content delivery network. The site is served through Cloudflare, which sits between you and our server to make pages load faster and to absorb attacks. Cloudflare processes your request, including your IP address, in order to do that.

Cookies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Some functional cookies may be set by our caching and security layers to serve pages correctly and to protect the site. If you log in to administer the site, WordPress sets cookies to keep you logged in, which applies only to us.

Links to other sites

We link to the National Lottery operator, to the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation, and occasionally to news sources. Once you follow a link away from here, that site's own privacy policy applies and we have no control over it.

Children

Playing the National Lottery in South Africa requires you to be 18 or older, and this site is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. See our responsible gambling page.

Your rights

South African data protection law, the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), gives you rights over personal information held about you, including the right to ask what is held and to ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Because we hold no accounts and collect no names or contact details, in practice there is usually nothing on file to give you. If you want to ask, get in touch using the details below.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it. Anything materially different, such as adding a contact form or introducing advertising, will be reflected here.
